Summary[]
When a quarry is placed it makes a rectangular "Frame" that marks the area it mines. It mines row by row, and into the next layer. They will only stop under 3 conditions:
- Power is no longer being supplied
- It has hit lava
- It has hit bedrock
When a quarry mines a block, it will spew it out the top of its self unless there is a pipe or a chest next to it. Quarries need either combustion or steam engines to function. In order to make a custom quarry size landmarks have to be used (They can be up to 64 x 64 in area)
It is possible to make your quarry 'Fully Automatic' With combustion engines which are the second best engine, all you need is two pumps and 8 engines (+ a quarry and its engines). It is quite expensive but worth it. One pump should be pumping oil (to power the engines) through waterproof piping and the other should be pumping water. ( to cool the engines)
A quarry is best used in an area around water so that when it hits lava instead of stopping the water will mix with the lava creating obsidian, so the quarry will be able to mine it.
